Naming ceremony of the 5th vessel Rodina in Navibulgar’s history
On April 1, 2024, the flag of the 5th vessel named Rodina in Navibulgar’s history has been raised at the Chinese shipyard Jiangsu New Yangzi Shipbuilding Co. Ltd.
Mrs. Daniela Minkova is the godmother of the 45 500 DWT bulk carrier m/v Rodina.
Captain Ivan Todorov and engineer Georgi Kolev are her first master and chief engineer accordingly.
During the naming ceremony, the executive director of Navibulgar- Aleksandar Kalchev MFG, pointed out that our Chinese partners have already delivered sixteen vessels to Navigation Maritime Bulgare.
Six vessels are under construction and three more are to be ordered. The cooperation between Navibulgar and YZJ Group is adding twenty five newly built ships to the fleet of the 132 years old shipping company.
The first Rodina (1935 - 1941) was the largest Bulgarian merchant ship in the first half of 20th century.
The second vessel Rodina (1946 - 1975), the third (1978 - 2008) and the fourth (2010- 2021) became sailing schools for several generations of Bulgarian seafarers.
The owners of Navibulgar have been keeping the promise that there will be always a vessel named after our motherland.
